While the mines of Samahadrahac were running dry, new possibilities did present themselves for mining. They used their experience with mining in extreme hot conditions to start operations on the iron core of a gas giant close to the sun. The solar winds did blow away most of the gasses, rendering a bare core of iron and other heavy metals.
