It is possible to trade with NPC worlds - each NPC world defines goods that it need (“Wants”) and goods that it is willing to provide (“Has”). You can freely trade any amount of “Wants” goods from your world for “Has” goods from their world. You need to set up a trade route as normal to transport the goods you deliver to the NPC world, and the NPC world will ensure the goods you get in trade are transferred to your world in turn (you do not need to provide a fleet for that).
Trade ratio's with NPC worlds are set - you cannot negotiate for a better deal. The ratio's are as follows:
