A star system, also known as a planetary system or simply a system, is a group of bodies orbiting a star. Star systems usually consist of one or more planets or gas giants in orbit around a single or binary star. Debris from the formation of the system is still around in the form of asteroid belts, trojan asteroids and Rings.
The star system forms the basis of the Economics rules. This is because transfer of goods between worlds in a star system is free due to the prevalence of space travel.
A star system takes up (7|2) Sector Capacity.

It is possible to share a system between multiple factions. This situation can be created through, for example, starting a Shared Settlement, or through transfering control of a world to another faction.
It is only possible to share control at the level of whole worlds, that is, any world in a shared systems is as a whole under the control of a single faction.
Sharing worlds in a system impacts several aspects of the game:
