IOnet

IO Protocol information network

(controlled by the IO Protocol)

IOnet is a holonet based network created by the IO Protocol to facilitate communication between Union Member worlds. Through IOnet, connected worlds can purchase information without the need to negotiate. There is no cost associated with being connected to IOnet.

Purchasing Information

The IO Protocol offers to sell information equal to the maximum capacity of your IOnet connection for you at a set price, called the IOnet price. You can buy as much or as little information as you want each turn, and you can change the amount whenever you wish. There is no need to contact the IO Protocol regarding your purchase.

To buy information at the IOnet price, simply fill in the purchase with your IOnet entry. This will update the tax tool so information is sent to you and taxes are paid to the IO Protocol.

How to get connected

The IO Protocol provides IOnet as a free service to member worlds. As such, no guarantees are made when member worlds will be connected or how much capacity you will get when you do.

The IO Protocol strives to get all Union Members connected eventually and will do so at no charge. It is possible to negotiate with the IO Protocol should you have cause to want to be connected sooner.

How it works behind the scenes

IOnet is made possible by the extensive network of holonet relays created by the IO Protocol. Information is transported from the hub system to connected worlds. Overproduction in the hub system makes it possible to guarantee instant delivery to those purchasing information, using the network.

To guarantee the quality of the network, there is no line-sharing within the network. If two systems are connected, then any zones shared in the path between those systems and the hub system will have enough capacity to fill both connections. This guarantees connectivity.
