House Saret
House Saret is the imperial house of the Veolian Commonwealth. This came to be during the aftershock wars when the, then relatively small, house Saret launched a surprise attack against another small house with the intent of disrupting a larger alliance. A few unforeseen consequences of this surprise attack converged to create a situation in which all powerful houses wished to ally themselves with house Saret. The current emperor was a junior officer during the attack, and he personally negotiated the terms of alliance with all other noble houses.
Since his rise to power the emperor has seen to the creation of the Imperial Council, which offers each of the noble houses a voice and allows the emperor to enjoy his life while the houses keep each other in check. House Saret maintains the imperial guard and the imperial fleets.
The Emperor has only a single wife born in one of the great houses, all his other wives are from smaller noble houses.
