The Hiocan are known for their logical way of thinking. They are also believed to be related to the Sundarion and might share distant descendants. On their dessert like home planet there are harsh conditions. Due to their skills as scientist they made a lot of technical progress. There are quite some rare elements that are widely used in high tech applications.
Although Hiocan look human they are quite different internally. Their homeplanet is quite hot and their physiology has adapted to it. They have an internal cooling system. They have green blood and therefore normal drugs do not affect them. They can last quite long without water or sleep. They have keen hearing and sharp teeth. Furthermore they have telepathic/telekinetic powers. Their average lifespan is 200 years.
From their 15th when their body is fully developed they get the pon far or mating time every 5 years. This primal urge is very strong and they become emotionally imbalanced. If it is not satisfied within a week they situation get worse and you could compare it to madness. Some very advanced meditation techniques however can counter this. The pon far is considered a private matter to Hiocans and not many outsiders know about it.
