1st Intergalactic Science Conference

The normal five year annual Hiocan Science Conference is opening its doors for all Union scientists. The conference will be about the natural sciences; astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, material science and earth sciences. It is the highlight in academic life and giving a presentation is considered a big publication.

An new conference centre has been carved in the mountains to the east of the capital Mya. It offers an interesting cave structure which give natural cooling from the outside where it can reach 70°C. There are multiple small caves with have been converted to gardens. A complete new city has been build with housing for various species. Small embassies are there and a lot of translators are on standby.

The conference will be held 7th January 2013 and will last five days and each discipline has its own area. They are all connected to a big cave in the middle with food court and a fountain. There is an extra sixth day for intergalactic science with presentation from various factions.

Each faction will be paired up with a Hiocan science institute that will help them with the preparations and guide them around.

Each day the focus will be on a different subject and various parallel presentation session will be given during the day.

In the evening there will be workshop related to the topics.

Astronomy is the field that studies objects in space. The galaxy is big and there are a lot objects to study. The themes for each day will be as followed.

• 1st day: Stellar astronomy (stars and stellar evolution)
• 2nd day: Planetary science (planet, moon, asteroids and other bodies)
• 3rd day: Galactic science (galaxy and nebula's)
• 4th day: Hyperspace science (hyperspace theory)
• 5th day: Space science (dark matter, voids)

Biology is the study of life and living organism. This is a broad subject as there are many subjects. The themes for each day will be as followed.

• 1st day: Cell biology (cell function)
• 2nd day: Physiology (functioning of living organism)
• 3rd day: Genetics (genes and heredity)

• 4th day: Ecology (organism in their environment)
• 5th day: Clinical medicine (bacta and cybernetics)

Chemistry is the science of matter, due to chemical reactions composition, structure and properties can change. The themes for each day will be as followed.

• 1st day: Organic chemistry (study of organic compounds)
• 2nd day: Inorganic chemistry (study of inorganic compounds)
• 3rd day: Physical chemistry (energetic and dynamics of systems)
• 4th day: Subatomic chemistry (study of chemistry in very small particles)
• 5th day: Chemical engineering (large scale processing and engineering of chemistry)

Physics is the study of matter and motion along the concept energy and force. The themes for each day will be as followed.

• 1st day: Mechanics (study of motion)
• 2nd day: Thermodynamics (study of energy and work)
• 3rd day: Electromagnetism (study of electric and magnetic fields)
• 4th day: Quantum physics (study of quantum and smaller particles)

• 5th day: Exotic field theory (study of fields like anti-gravity)

Material science is the application of all the sciences en engineering. It interconnects the various disciplines as the properties of matter from atomic to large-scale are combined. The themes for each day will be as followed.

• 1st day: Bio-materials (materials derived from or for biological systems)
• 2nd day: Electronic and magnetic materials (materials for IT uses)
• 3rd day: Material characterization (material analyzes)
• 4th day: Surface science and catalysis (study of interactions at plasma-gas-fluid-solid surfaces)
• 5th day: Material engineering (materials for engineering)
  1. Presentation by Skuldda over cutting edge race engine technologies.

Planetary science is the study of planets and their circumstance like atmosphere, oceans and earth. The themes for each day will be as followed.

• 1st day: Geology (study of rocks, deeper layers and crusts of planets)
• 2nd day: Soil science (study of most outer layer of the planets)

• 3rd day: Oceanography and hydrology (study of salt and sweet water environments)
• 4th day: Atmospheric science (study of atmospheres of planets)
• 5th day: Terraformation (process of changing planets atmosphere, temperature, surface and ecology)

The sixth day will consist of intergalactic science with talks from various well-known scientist from various factions.

• 6th day: Intergalactic science (faction science)
  1. Presentation by Teprogrenaian Consensus, Fecta Legin “Consensus work in groups of billions of people”
  2. Presentation by STF Triad Academy Energy “New theories on power generation”
  3. Presentation by High Chiefdom of Skuldda “Skulddarian motor engineering”.

The conference was very large, with participants from all over the Union.
