This race lives in water for most or all of its adult life. It is adapted for movement under water and may breathe air or extract oxygen from that dissolved in water through specialised organs called gills, or even directly through its skin. If it extracts oxygen from water, your species may or may not be able to breathe in air as well at your discretion. If they cannot breathe air, they use breathing equipment when out of water - this has no effects on production.

Races living in the oceans can easily adapt to planets that do not have a proper atmosphere. While normal races grow by 1% unless the world has a Type I or Type II atmosphere, aquatic races grow by 2% as long as the world has a water ocean and Natural Life, regardless of the type of atmosphere.

Note that this is NOT a stacking bonus. The 1% boost for oceans and natural life replaces the 1% boost for a Type I or Type II atmosphere. The total population growth of a world with a Type I atmosphere, natural life and oceans is 2% (plus any additional growth from other sources such as rules:High Fecundity).

In addition to this, Aquatic species pay 25% less in Population Growth Cost on worlds with a water ocean and Natural Life.

//Note that since it provides water oceans and natural life, all these bonuses apply on worlds with the rules:Frozen Ocean special.//
