[ superpowers ]

The Core Hegemony is an authoritarian group of systems near the galactic core which maintains they are the remnant of the Fallen Republic and the rightful rulers of the galaxy. The systems are heavily populated by humans and racism against non-human races is common.

Politics
The Core Hegemony is politically unified under a single government which resides on the remains of Coruscant in de Deep Core. The Core Hegemony government is formed by a body of generals, called the Core Staff, who make all decisions.

History
The Core Hegemony claims to be a remnant of the Fallen Republic. Though it is difficult to tell which parts of the history are true, as the Core Hegemony controls the historic records, the current version of the Core Hegemony was founded ten years after the Second Leveling of Coruscant during the Times of Chaos, which destroyed large parts of the Ecumenopolis.

After the Second Leveling, some two-hundred years ago most of the remnants of the Fallen Republics armies had been destroyed and various Core Worlds attempted to muster enough forces to defend themselves from the Times of Chaos. Eventually, a rag-tag alliance of local warlords managed to gain enough influence in the region to secure Coruscant under the leadership of Atahaem.

Atahaem founded an empire and began a quest to unite the worlds of the Fallen Republic under his rule, but before he got a chance to properly start his project, he was killed by another warlord Ep Orstant who wished to gain access to his throne. However, Ep Orstant had significantly misread the political situation and he was hunted down and killed by a furious population, whom had seen in Atahaem a hope for an end to the Times of Chaos.

Seeing the brutality and anger of the people, none of the other warlords dared to claim an imperial position and instead a council was formed, the forerunner of the Core Staff, which officially declared the statehood of the Core Hegemony.

Atahaem's body was frozen and set in the centre of the meeting room of the Core Staff. He would eventually become legendary, with churches devoted to him springing up in various locations - the Core Hegemony at one point attempted to turn this faith into a state religion, but a coup-d'etat prevented this. Since then, the religion around Atahaem has dwindled and is now a minority religion within the Core Hegemony, though his body remains a place of pilgrimage for those loyal to the Core Hegemony.

In the century that followed the foundation of the Core Hegemony, several campaigns were undertaken to 'liberate' Core Worlds formally part of the Fallen Republic. Esseles, Caprioril, Humbarine, Illodia and Corellia were taken in the first six campaigns during the first century of the Core Hegemony, with Duro as the third and Farrfin in the Seventh Campaign, some thirty years ago. No Eighth Campaign is planned at this time, according to Core Hegemony officials.

Intergalactic Politics
During it's campaigns, the Core Hegemony has taken to 'liberating' former Core Worlds and everything in path, but so far it has kept relatively good relationships with galactic powerhouses like the Union. It does consider minor worlds to be fair game for conquest.

The racist undertone against non-humans of the Core Hegemony culture tends to be problematic between the Core Hegemony and other worlds, and several encounters have led to diplomatic incidents. In general, Core Hegemony diplomats are considered to be primitive and backwards, but honourable once a deal has been agreed upon.

The Core Hegemonies main advantage lies in their control of the remains of several old trade routes in the Core sectors allowing it to keep galactic powers on different sides of the galaxy from trading with one another, forcing them to use the Core Hegemony as an intermediary.
